My name is Cerys, I am a 19-year-old student.
I went on a project in Kuterevo bear refuge in Croatia. During my project, I built bins, chairs and benches from recycled wood and created a fire pit area with seating. For the first two days, I fed bears hourly and also aided the other volunteers in releasing a new bear to the refuge.
In my free time, a professor that works with lynx life came to teach us how to track in the Kuterevo mountains. We also visited the Krka National Park.
Thanks to this project, professionally I learned how to live and work with different nationalities. I also learnt that other people’s opinions matter and that respecting that helps when working with other people.
Personally, I think this project has helped me to boost my confidence when out of my comfort zone.
