Mechanics – Depalm, Aruba
View all countriesWorking alongside Depalm Corporation you will be based in their mechanics department. Trainees will have the chance to work on DPC fleet vehicles, on general maintenance and servicing. Their fleet includes, coaches, minivans, a submarine, jeeps, UTVs and of course their non-commercial vehicles.
Trainees will work alone (on an individual project) or with their team and college tutors on short (2 week placements) on the maintenance of Depalm’s fleet, maintaining and servicing vehicles and also learning about the different types of vehicles in a large tour company.
There may also be opportunities to be involved in reactive exercises such as vehicle breakdowns.
The working hours are on shifts of either 8am to 5 pm or 2 to 10 pm.
Trainee profile:

● A driving licence and experience of driving since passing test (only for individual trainees) for groups they will be driven by tutor

The project place: Aruba
Pos Chiquito where trainees live is a local community towards the south of the island, serviced with a supermarket, laundrette, snack-van and DIY stores for household necessities. There are three restaurants in walking distance. The main tourist attractions are in the North of the island around Palm Beach and Noord.
The nearest supermarket is Save More in San Nicholas, which is a 10 minute drive. The capital Oranjestad is a 15 minute drive or 20 minutes on the bus.
Aruba is full of wonderful beaches, Magle Halto is situated 5 minutes from the accommodation.
